EIB uses RS to monitor capital investment

This press release from ESA is interesting. The European Investment Bank has colaborated with ESA to use earth observation data to monitor the implementation of some the major investements in infrastructure it’s made, through two trial applications.

Perhaps this is something to consider in the future in Ireland? Certainly major road projects use aerial photography in the planning and  application stages, but Ive seen no attempts to use RS to look at the impact post-completion, looking to to measure the actual impact on, for example, landscape, drainage and land consumption. It would be interesting to see, how far, if at all, the actual road departs form the EIA projections in the application.
