Enterprise Ireland has published a “space strategy” for Ireland, looking to exploit Irelands mebership of the ESA.
The principal aim of Ireland’s space research strategy is to create a vibrant and dynamic space research community contributing to the goals and objectives of ESA’s scientific programmes, while also playing a role in supporting the development of Ireland’s ‘Knowledge Economy’.
Probably for cultural reasons EI puts the graeter emphasis on Industry – making widgets for space. Personally, beyond research, I think Ireland needs to focus on services. Either services to the space indusrty (cal/val etc) but also promoting services that use (as the document does suggets at the end) information deerived from space (eo and GPS etc).
